The Celebration of Bill's Life

Dr. Tom Tobin has announced “The Celebration of Bill’s Life” in memory of Bill Mooney scheduled for 5:30-8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 18th at The Thoroughbred Club of America, 3555 Rice Road in Lexington.


Tobin, a Professor of Veterinary Science and Professor in the Department of Toxicology and Cancer Research at the University of Kentucky, related to NTWAB that he visited with Jill Brilhart on Feb. 11 at The Thoroughbred Club.  Based on her observation, as many as 75 may attend. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be provided.


The Celebration will held be in the Buffet Dining Room. There will be a display of Bill’s books and any photographs or memorabilia that people wish to bring, which is very much encouraged. A table for family members will be close by the display.


Bill's colleagues are encouraged to speak at the Celebration. In an email to NTWAB President Alicia Wincze Hughes, Dr. Tobin reached out to prospective speakers. "Please do not hesitate to contact me, best by e-mail at ttobin@uky.edu, and we will be delighted to see that you are accommodated," Dr. Tobin wrote.

The media awards are presented by the NTRA, Daily Racing Form, and the NTWAB in recognition of outstanding achievement in media coverage of Thoroughbred racing.
