NTWAB Annual Awards Dinner Shines

The 62nd NTWAB Annual Awards Dinner held in conjunction with the 40th Breeders' Cup was led by Team Cody's Wish, winner of the Mr. Fitz Award for typifying the spirit of racing. Cody Dorman and his family were in attendance along with trainer Bill Mott and a contingent from Godolphin.
Mike Kane, pictured with Jennie Rees, won the Walter Haight Award for career excellence in Turf writing. Kane has been an NTWAB member since 1996and served as president and five-time vice-president. He's covered racing in print, radio, television and online since 1980.
The Edwin J. Gregson Foundation, represented by a large contingent led by Jenine Sahadi (left), was presented with the Joe Palmer Award for meritorious service to racing. The Gregson Foundation is a nonprofit developed to benefit California Thoroughbred racing’s backstretch workers and their families.
Kenny Rice (center), who rose to national prominence on NBC’s coverage of the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup starting in 1999, was honored with the Jim McKay Award for career excellence in broadcasting. With him are good friends and colleagues Amy Zimmerman and Billy Rapaport.
Cindy Hutter, who continues her inspiring recovery from a severe brain injury sustained in a training accident in July 2022, was presented the Bill Mooney Award for displaying courage in the face of tremendous adversity. She is with her husband, trainer George Weaver.

Kelly Dorman, Cody Dorman's father, accepted the Mr. Fitz Award.

Paul Fitzsimmons, a great-great-grandson of legendary trainer "Sunny Jim" Fitzsimmons, for whom the Mr. Fitz Award is named, joined Team Cody's Wish at the Awards Dinner.

FanDuel's popular host and analyst Scott Hazelton served as Master of Ceremonies at beautiful Altadena Town & Country Club in Altadena, CA.
