NYRA Opens Door For Media, Announces Belmont Park Protocols

Here are the rules for media access to Belmont Park for the foreseeable future. NOTE: Belmont Stakes credentials are closed. The Belmont Stakes is set for June 20.

Beginning on June 1, the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will require reporters and photographers in possession of a valid yearly media credential, working on assignment, to request permission from the NYRA Press Office to obtain access to the Belmont Park backstretch and press box.

Daily credentials for reporters and photographers working on assignment will also be available by request on a limited basis and subject to advance approval by the NYRA Press Office.

Media who are approved by the NYRA Press Office must arrive via Gate 5, where they will be subject to a health screening process that includes a temperature check, as part of COVID-19 precautionary measures implemented at Belmont Park.

Face masks and maintaining social distancing are mandatory on the Belmont premises at all times.

Access to the press box on live race days will be extremely limited and is subject to NYRA Press Office approval. Interview opportunities with winning connections on race days will be made available on a limited basis.

Access to the frontside for photographers during live race days will be limited and subject to NYRA Press Office approval.

Media are not permitted to enter individual barns on the Belmont backstretch and must pre-arrange morning interview times with horsemen.

With prior approval, and adhering to social distancing measures, photographers will be permitted to photograph morning training on the training track and main track.

Credentials for the 2020 Belmont Stakes are now closed.

To request media access on a specific day, contact the NYRA Press Office at:

Pat McKenna - pmckenna@nyrainc.com

Applying for or requesting press credentials does not guarantee, imply or conclude that any individual or organization will receive press credentials from NYRA. Additionally, applicants who apply for, and are granted press credentials agree to adhere to all policies set forth by NYRA.
