NTWAB member Jay Privman was named to receive the Charles W. Engelhard Award for outstanding coverage of the Thoroughbred industry at an annual awards luncheon today in Lexington.
The award is decided by the board of directors of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association and Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders.
The Engelhard Award was first presented in 1970. Privman has been with Daily Racing Form for almost 20 years. He primarily covers the southern California racing circuit, the Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup, and other big events.
According to Daily Racing Form, Privman is a multiple winner of the Red Smith Award for best Kentucky Derby story; a multiple winner of the David F. Woods Award for Preakness Stakes coverage; and a recipient of the Joe Hirsch Memorial Writing Award for Belmont Stakes coverage.
Privman authored "Breeders' Cup: Thoroughbred Racing's Championship Day" in 2001 and was a contributor to "Champions".
Privman serves on the Board of Directors of the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters and entertains over 19,000 followers on Twitter.
